HCMC – HCMC’s outlying district of Can Gio has proposed developing a night market, which will mainly offer seafood, to serve tourists and residents in the district.

According to the Can Gio District government, the night market will help develop the local economy and enhance trade activities. In addition to contributing to the local budget, it will be an entertainment and shopping venue for locals and tourists, the local media reported.

The model will also create more jobs for local residents, improving their incomes and living conditions. Therefore, the Can Gio District government expected the HCMC government to approve the proposal and direct it to conduct the plan.

According to the district, in the 2015-2020 period, it welcomed more than 10.3 million tourist arrivals, up an average of 31.4% per year. Most visitors come to the district during the day, and only 3%-4% of the total tourists stay overnight due to the lack of services.

Recently, many travel firms introduced tours to Can Gio with special tourism services and products after the city reopened its economy.
