HCMC – HCMC’s retail sector has shown a notable recovery this year, with total retail sales of goods nearing VND568 trillion, an 11% uptick compared to the previous year, according to the HCMC Department of Industry and Trade.

This year marks the second consecutive year the city has implemented its market stabilization program, with businesses playing a pivotal role in maintaining stable prices and ensuring a steady supply of goods.

From now until the Lunar New Year 2025, the department will focus on closely monitoring supply and demand, particularly for essential goods such as rice, meat, eggs, and vegetables, to maintain market stability.

To keep prices under control, the department is encouraging businesses to offer discounts, rebates, and limit price hikes for consumers. Additionally, efforts will be made to expand the mobile sales network to districts, suburban areas, and worker residential zones, ensuring accessibility to affordable goods.

On the afternoon of December 16, the department announced the second phase of the 2024 branded goods promotion event—City Sale—aimed at boosting consumer demand and positioning HCMC as a premier shopping destination.

The event will run in two phases, from December 18 to January 1, 2025, at major shopping centers across the city, including Union Square, Menas, Gigamall, SC VivoCity, and Vincom Dong Khoi. Over 500 brands are expected to participate, offering attractive promotions and discounts to shoppers.
