Heavy rains forecast in central Vietnam

HCMC – Downpours are forecast in central provinces from today to September 28, according to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting.

The central region has showers from today until tomorrow, with rainfall ranging from 50 to 150 millimeters. In the provinces from Quang Tri to Thua Thien-Hue, rainfall could be beyond 150 millimeters.

In south-central, Central Highlands, and southern provinces, rainfall is expected to be between 40 and 80 millimeters, with torrential rains to hit some areas.

From September 26 to 28, the region from Thanh Hoa to Quang Binh provinces will continue to experience downpours, with rainfall reaching as high as 200-400 millimeters. In some areas, rainfall might be beyond 450 millimeters.

At sea, the waters from Quang Binh to Danang, including Con Co Island and Cham Island, the Gulf of Tonkin, and from Binh Thuan to Ca Mau provinces, are expected to experience strong winds at level 6, gusting at level 7-8.

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, the tropical depression this morning, September 26, weakened into a low-pressure area over the southern region of Laos.

It is forecast that in the next 12 hours, the low pressure will move west-northwesterly at a speed of around 15 kilometers per hour.
