Diocese of Kon Tum, also known as the Kon Tum Mission Seminary, is a distinctive cultural site that visitors should not miss when traveling to the Central Highlands ward of Kon Tum in Quang Ngai Province.
Built between 1935 and 1938, the complex features a distinctive architectural style that harmoniously blends Western influences with traditional designs of local ethnic communities.
Behind rows of mature frangipani trees, the 100-meter-long structure is primarily built from durable local hardwoods. The building has three levels, with a solid brick-and-concrete ground floor and two upper floors with wooden frames topped with tiled roofs.
Its most notable highlight is the traditional room on the second floor, often described as a mini museum. Here, visitors can explore the history of missionary work dating back to the 19th century and view a valuable collection of artifacts, including farming tools, musical instruments such as gongs, drums, and jars, and vivid wooden sculptures depicting the daily lives of local ethnic groups.
