HCMC – Hanoi’s Hoan Kiem District will not limit the opening hours of entertainment and catering services in order to stimulate the growth of the night-time economy.
A representative of the district-level government on September 9 said that the district is collecting the feedback of relevant agencies to come up with a pilot scheme to develop the night-time economy, reported VnExpress news website.
Under the scheme, entertainment and catering services will remain open every day instead of only on the weekends. Outdoor activities, heritage sites and historical relics will be operational until midnight.
The scheme will be executed in two phases. Between September 2020 and August 31 next year, the district will mainly develop a cultural and economic space to promote the night-time economy. From September 1, 2021, it will develop nightlife activities across all fields.
Activities at the walking space in the Old Quarter and at the cultural, service, trading and tourist space of Phung Hung-Gam Cau streets will take place at the same time as those at the walking space around Hoan Kiem Lake and neighboring areas. Currently, the Hoan Kiem walking space is open from 7 p.m. on Fridays till midnight on Sundays.
The night-time economic activities in the district will focus on the fields of culture, entertainment, gastronomy, shopping, health care, tourism, logistics and finance-banking.
The district also plans to develop infrastructure, organize cultural programs and street festivals, start services and tourist activities around the Hoan Kiem lake and set up a walking space in the Phung Hung-Gam Cau area.
