Must read

HCMC – The Sao Mai-An Giang solar power plant project in the Mekong Delta province of An Giang has been completed, with a total capacity of 210 MWp, the project’s investor Sao Mai Group announced on January 12.

Covering 275 hectares in An Hao Commune, Tinh Bien District, the plant was built in two years starting from 2019, with a total investment of over VND6 trillion, and connected to the national grid on December 2 last year.

Truong Vinh Thanh, vice general director of Sao Mai Group, said the completion of the project highlighted the efforts of the investor amid difficulties such as the limited construction time, the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, equipment price hikes and site clearance issues.

Speaking at an event announcing the project’s completion, Nguyen Thanh Binh, chairman of the provincial government, said the project has created jobs for around 100 local workers and that the figure could exceed 500 soon.

Also, the plant is expected to annually contribute some VND80 billion of value added tax and over VND40 billion of corporate income tax to the province’s budget, Binh added.

This southern province has great potential for the further development of renewable energy projects, he said. The province had proposed the Government and the Ministry of Industry and Trade consider investing in a 500kV transmission line connecting An Giang with O Mon District of Can Tho city in the 2021-2025 period.
