HCMC – Vietnam welcomed many international flights and cruise ships transporting hundreds of passengers on January 22 and 23, the first two days of the Year of the Cat.

A flight with over 200 travelers on board departing from China landed at the Cam Ranh international airport in Khanh Hoa Province on January 23, making it the first flight transporting Chinese visitors to the province after a three-year hiatus due to Covid.

From now until March 23, low-cost air carrier Vietjet will launch some 35 flights transporting Chinese tourists to the province’s Nha Trang City, according to the Khanh Hoa Department of Tourism.

Before the pandemic emerged, China was the province’s biggest tourism source market. In 2019, the province welcomed over 2.5 million Chinese travelers, accounting for over 70% of the province’s total international tourist arrivals.

The Danang Department of Tourism, on the same day, held a ceremony to welcome nearly 650 international travelers on board the luxury cruise ship Silver Spirit, which docked at the Tien Sa port in Son Tra District.

These visitors were set to visit multiple tourist destinations in the city such as Linh Ung Pagoda, Ngu Hanh Son, or Marble Mountains and the Cham Sculpture Museum among others.

This is the first time the cruise ship has returned to Danang City post Covid, the local media reported.

On January 22, the city welcomed 100 air passengers from Bangkok, Thailand. They were the first international tourists to visit the central coastal city on the first day of the Lunar New Year.
