IC ISTAS-led consortium wins bidding for Long Thanh airport terminal

HCMC – The Airport Corporation of Vietnam (ACV), the investor of the Long Thanh International Airport project, has announced that a consortium led by Turkey’s IC ISTAS won the bid for the construction of the airport’s passenger terminal.

The Vietur Consortium secured the bid with a total value of over VND35,800 billion.

The construction of Long Thanh International Airport’s terminal is scheduled to be completed in 1,170 days, equivalent to 39 months. The contract is expected to be signed between August 25 and 30.

The consortium comprises 10 enterprises, including IC ISTAS and local construction companies such as Ricons, Newtecons, SOL E&C and Vinaconex. IC ISTAS is one of the three largest Turkish contractors with experience in building international airports, according to ACV.

Vietur is one of the three consortiums that joined the bidding for package 5.10. The other two are Hoa Lu (led by Coteccons Group) and CHEC-BCEG-Vietnam Contractors (led by China Harbour Engineering Company Limited). At the beginning of August, ACV announced that only Vietur meets the technical requirements for the airport terminal’s construction.

Long Thanh International Airport is a national key project that consists of multiple components. Among them, package 5.10, involving the construction and installation of passenger terminal infrastructure, is the largest.

Recently, ACV sought approval from the authorities to commence work on the package 5.10 of the Long Thanh International Airport’s terminal and the Terminal T3 at the Tan Son Nhat International Airport.

The date of the groundbreaking ceremony has been rescheduled to the end of August, instead of August 26.
