Imexpharm’s enduring dedication to sustainable development was highlighted by Nguyen Minh Hung, chairman of the Danang City Learning Promotion Association, at the Huynh Thuc Khang Talent Award Ceremony in August 2024. For decades, said Hung, Imexpharm has made significant contributions to education and community development, helping nurture young talent and ensuring equal access to opportunities, which supports the society’s prosperity.

Development for all

At the award event, Hung emphasized that “over 23 years of collaboration, the partnership between the Danang City Learning Promotion Association and Imexpharm has demonstrated both sustainability and profound humanity.” He praised Imexpharm’s unwavering support, which inspires students to embrace President Ho Chi Minh’s teaching that “Learning never ends.” This support helps young people contribute to national progress.

Imexpharm’s scholarship program is a cornerstone of its corporate social responsibility (CSR), complementing its environmental initiatives and provision of free medication to underserved communities. Over its 47-year history, the drug manufacturer has built a sustainable strategy rooted in five pillars: People, Living Environment, Prosperity, Cooperation, and Fostering a Compassionate Organization.

By delivering high-quality, EU-GMP certified medications to people in remote areas, Imexpharm furthers its mission to ensure no one is left behind. These efforts not only improve healthcare but also promote a healthier, more equitable society.

Beyond healthcare, Imexpharm is committed to environmental protection, evidenced by its recent participation in tree-planting as part of Vietnam’s national goal of planting one billion trees by 2025 and beach-cleaning initiatives along the Nha Trang coast.

Greening the supply chain

As climate change response becomes increasingly embedded in pharmaceutical regulations, Imexpharm is leading efforts to “green” its production and supply chain. This aligns with its commitment to human health and addressing environmental challenges.

Imexpharm’s EU-GMP standard factories, equipped with cutting-edge technologies and operated by skilled teams, emphasize sustainability. With three factory clusters and 11 production lines that meet EU-GMP standards, the company reduces CO2 emissions and operates advanced wastewater treatment systems that meet ISO 14001:2015 environmental standards.

These green factories, combined with strategic management, allow Imexpharm to carefully control materials and reduce pollutants and hazardous waste, securing long-term sustainable development.

It is clear that Imexpharm is gradually elevating itself and following the sustainable path of leading global pharmaceutical companies, in response to significant shifts within the industry. By integrating environmental protection into each stage of research and development, Imexpharm demonstrates its capability to adopt advanced green solutions.

This integration of modern technology with environmental responsibility not only strengthens Imexpharm’s competitiveness against major global pharmaceutical firms but also generates sustainable value for both the community and Vietnam’s pharmaceutical industry. These efforts align with Imexpharm’s ambitious strategy to join the global supply chain and achieve its goal of tripling revenue by 2030.

Sustainable business vision

As one of the first pharmaceutical companies listed on the stock exchange in 2006, Imexpharm has continuously aimed for sustainability, and has been widely recognized for its endeavor. In July 2024, the company was recognized in the Vietnam Sustainability Index (VNSI) on the Hochiminh Stock Exchange (HOSE). It was also honored as one of the Top 50 Sustainable Companies in Vietnam by Nhip Cau Dau Tu magazine in August.

These accolades affirm and highlight Imexpharm’s increasingly scientific and professional corporate governance model, meeting international standards for good governance and implementing sustainable development strategies based on CSR criteria. Imexpharm continuously enhances transparency, encourages stakeholder participation, and commits to positively contributing to community development.

“Investing in people and the environment is central to our business philosophy,” said People’s Doctor, Pharmacist Tran Thi Dao, general director of Imexpharm. “Our vision—’1,000 years later, the lotus still blooms’—drives us to create long-term value for the community while enhancing innovation and business efficiency.”
