India donates 220,000 Covid vaccine doses to Vietnam

HCMC – The Ministry of Health yesterday, December 19, took delivery of 200,000 doses of the Covaxin Covid-19 vaccine and one ton of input materials to produce Covid treatment drug Movinavir 200gr, which were donated by India.

The National Assembly (NA) Office held a ceremony to hand over the vaccine and materials to the Health Ministry after a plane carrying NA chairman Vuong Dinh Hue and a Vietnamese high-ranking delegation landed at the Noi Bai International Airport last night, wrapping up an official visit to South Korea and India.

At the ceremony, Bui Van Cuong, general secretary of the NA and chairman of the NA Office, presented the 200,000 vaccine doses used for children under 18 and one ton of materials to Tran Van Thuan, Deputy Minister of Health.

The doses were donated by Bharat Biotech, an Indian multinational biotechnology company, and the materials to produce Covid drugs were donated by India’s Optimus Pharma Company and Vietnam’s Mekophar Chemical Pharmaceutical Company.

Earlier, between December 12 and 19, NA chairman Hue led the Vietnamese NA delegation to visit South Korea from December 12 to 15 at the invitation of South Korean National Assembly Speaker Park Byeong-Seug. His official visit to India took place after that, at the invitation of Speaker of the Lok Sabha (House of Representatives) of India Om Birla and Chairman of the Rajya Sabha (Upper House) of India Venkaiah Naidu.
