HCMC – A 20-km section of the Khanh Hoa-Buon Ma Thuot Expressway was opened to traffic on May 28, connecting National Highway 1 with the Van Phong-Nha Trang Expressway in central Vietnam.
The section, part of component 1 in Khanh Hoa Province, also connects with National Highway 26.
The Khanh Hoa Provincial Management Board for Agricultural and Transport Construction Projects, the project investor, held the opening ceremony after inspections and operational assessments were completed.
According to the investor, the route was reviewed by the Traffic Police Department, the Department for Roads of Vietnam, and Road Management Area 3 before receiving approval from the Khanh Hoa government.
The State Inspection Council for Construction Acceptance also assessed the section as meeting conditions for operation.
The remaining 10 km of component 1 is still under construction. Contractors are accelerating work to complete the full section in the coming period, the investor said.
The Khanh Hoa-Buon Ma Thuot Expressway is 117 km long and divided into three component projects.
Components 1 and 3 are managed by the governments of Khanh Hoa and Dak Lak provinces, respectively. Component 2 is managed by Project Management Unit 6, now the Railway Project Management Board under the Ministry of Construction.
Once completed, the expressway will shorten the travel distance between Khanh Hoa Province and Buon Ma Thuot in Dak Lak Province from 200 km to 117 km, improving transport links between the south-central coast and the Central Highlands.
