HCMC – Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul presided over a welcome ceremony for Vietnamese Party General Secretary and State President To Lam on the morning of May 28.
The welcome ceremony was held with full honors at Government House in Bangkok.
After the Vietnamese leader’s motorcade arrived at the main hall of Government House, Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul and his spouse welcomed To Lam and his spouse at the arrival point and invited them to the ceremonial podium.
A military band played the national anthems of Vietnam and Thailand.
Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul and Party General Secretary and State President To Lam reviewed the Royal Thai Armed Forces honor guard before introducing members of their delegations.
After the ceremony, To Lam and Anutin Charnvirakul held talks with their high-level delegations.
Nearly 50 years after Vietnam and Thailand established diplomatic relations in 1976, ties between the two countries have continued to strengthen and expand across multiple areas, becoming one of the most dynamic and effective partnerships within ASEAN.
The visit to Thailand by Party General Secretary and State President To Lam and his spouse reflects Vietnam’s strong emphasis on its relationship with Thailand and with Southeast Asia more broadly.
The trip also provides an opportunity for leaders of the two countries to hold extensive discussions on major directions for implementing a new cooperation framework, aiming to create fresh momentum for bilateral ties in the coming years.
Thailand extended a warm and high-level welcome to Party General Secretary and State President To Lam, his spouse, and the senior Vietnamese delegation. When the Vietnamese leader arrived at Bangkok’s Don Mueang Airport on May 27, Thai authorities greeted him with a special ceremony that included a 21-gun salute at the airport.
