Kien Giang sets up three Covid treatment facilities

HCMC – Kien Giang Province has established three Covid-19 treatment facilities which are scheduled to start operations on September 15.
The Mekong Delta province has recently seen a major spike in cases. Data showed Kien Giang had reported 3,533 cases by September 13, with 2,037 of them having recovered and 25 dead.

The new treatment facilities are located in Ha Tien City and Giong Rieng and Vinh Thuan districts.

The Ha Tien City facility, with 570 beds, is a part of the city’s Healthcare Center and a part of the My Duc Ward Culture Center, the local media reported.

In Giong Rieng District, part of the district’s Healthcare Center and Children’s House was converted into a 400-bed Covid treatment facility.

Besides, the province converted part of the Healthcare Center in Vinh Thuan District and the old headquarters of the district into the third treatment facility with 350 beds.

The provincial government assigned the Kien Giang Department of Health to mobilize and assign medical workers to these facilities, the local media reported.

On September 12, the province put into operation a 1,800-bed treatment facility for Covid-19 patients in Rach Gia City, which was converted from the Oncology Hospital and the old campus of the Kien Giang General Hospital.

The province is applying the three-level Covid-19 treatment system that focuses on taking care of asymptomatic cases, those with mild symptoms and ill or critical patients, according to Dr Nguyen Truc Giang, deputy director of the provincial department.
