HCMC – A landslide triggered by a heavy downpour last night buried a house in Khau Tinh Commune, Na Hang District, of Tuyen Quang Province, belonging to Phung Van Gio, leaving his three children dead, said a local official.
Heavy rain and whirlwinds at around 3 a.m. today, August 24, in the commune caused the landslide. The three children were aged 10, 9 and 6, according to the authorities’ report.
To Viet Hiep, chairman of the district’s government, told Tuoi Tre newspaper this morning that he rushed to the scene of the incident after being notified of the news.
Rescuers and local residents made efforts to search for the children buried by the landslide and found that three of them were dead. The local authorities are coping with the aftermath and supporting the victims’ family to arrange the funeral, the chairman said.
