Local gold prices decline

HCMC – The upward trend in domestic gold prices has shown signs of tapering off as the value of the yellow metal dipped by VND600,000 to VND81.1 million per tael this morning, April 5, according to local media.

Saigon Jewelry Company (SJC) in HCMC bought SJC-brand gold at VND79.1 million per tael and sold it at VND81.1 million, a decrease of VND600,000 from the previous day. The gap between buying and selling prices stood at VND2 million per tael. A tael equals 37.5 grams or 1.2 troy ounces.

Doji, a prominent jewelry firm in Hanoi City, set its gold bar prices at VND78.4 million per tael for purchasing and VND80.7 million for selling.

The price of gold rings inched down as well.

SJC’s gold rings were priced at VND70.5 million per tael for buying and VND71.75 million per tael for selling, slightly declining compared to the end of yesterday’s trading session.

At Bao Tin Minh Chau Company, also in Hanoi, the price of gold rings was fixed at VND70.8 million per tael for buying and VND72 million per tael for selling.
