HCMC – SJC-brand gold bar prices rebounded to VND90 million per tael at some jewelry firms around 9 a.m. on February 7, coinciding with the 10th day of the lunar calendar, also known as God of Wealth Day.
Many Vietnamese believe that if they buy gold on God of Wealth Day, they would have good luck and prosperity throughout lunar year. Therefore, gold stores are always overwhelmed with buyers this day.
Saigon Jewelry Company (SJC) listed its gold bar prices at VND86.5 million per tael for buying and VND90 million per tael for selling, an increase of VND100,000 and VND400,000 per tael over the previous session, respectively. The price gap between buying and selling expanded to VND3.5 million per tael.
Phu Quy Jewelry also raised its SJC gold bar prices to VND86.5 million per tael for buying and VND90 million per tael for selling, with a VND200,000 increase on the selling side versus the previous day.
The prices of plain gold rings also climbed. Phu Quy Jewelry set its buying and selling prices at VND86.4 million and VND89.9 million per tael, respectively, up by VND100,000 and VND400,000 per tael.
At Bao Tin Minh Chau, plain gold rings increased by VND100,000 and VND400,000 per tael on each side to VND86.5 million per tael for buying and VND89.95 million per tael for selling.
Similarly, SJC-listed gold rings saw a VND100,000 increase on both sides, with the buying price at VND86.5 million per tael and the selling price at VND89.5 million per tael.
