HCMC – The provincial government of Long An has asked the Government to consider its request not to act as coordinator of the HCMC Beltway No. 4 project.
Long An wants the Ministry of Transport to replace it, citing the importance of the project.
In April, while working with the provinces through which the HCMC Beltway No. 4 passes, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh approved the Ministry of Transport’s proposal to assign Long An Province as the key coordinator for the project as the province has the longest section of the Beltway No.4 passing through.
However, after studying the proposal, the province said it could not represent the whole region to implement an inter-regional project.
The province expressed concern over its inexperience in implementing such a large-scale project, likely causing it to fall behind schedule.
The HCMC Beltway No. 4, with a total length of 200 kilometers, will pass through Binh Duong, Dong Nai, Long An, Ba Ria-Vung Tau and HCMC.
The project is scheduled to commence this year and open for technical traffic clearance for the entire route in 2027.
