HCMC – The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) is conducting an investigation into a severe diarrhea outbreak that has led to multiple cow deaths in the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong.

MARD announced today, August 9, that initial findings from the investigation are expected within the next two days.

The ministry has instructed local authorities to implement preventive measures and has dispatched a task force from the Department of Animal Health to the affected area to manage the situation.

Deputy Minister Phung Duc Tien has been closely monitoring the outbreak. On August 7, he directed the department and Lam Dong’s agricultural officials to urgently address the situation. He convened meetings with veterinary experts and local officials on August 8, and instructed the veterinary pharmaceutical company Navetco to supply the necessary medications and vitamins without delay.

A specialized team has been established by the Department of Animal Health to collaborate with local agencies in controlling the outbreak. This team is collecting samples from affected farms for analysis and reviewing vaccination records and other relevant data to determine the cause of the disease.

In response to the outbreak, MARD has temporarily suspended the use of lumpy skin disease vaccines across Lam Dong. The ministry is also mobilizing resources to provide antibiotics and other essential supplies to support local efforts in managing the outbreak.
