HCMC – The Ministry of Construction plans to hold groundbreaking ceremonies for four major infrastructure projects and inaugurate 12 others nationwide on December 19, according to a report from the Government news website (baochinhphu.vn).
The four projects set to begin construction include the expansion of the Cam Lo–La Son expressway section, completion of the Than Vu tunnel, widening of the Ho Chi Minh City–Trung Luong–My Thuan expressway, and the Lao Cai–Hanoi–Haiphong railway.
Meanwhile, 12 projects are scheduled for inauguration, including sections of the North–South Expressway (East) such as Quang Ngai–Hoai Nhon, Hoai Nhon–Quy Nhon, Quy Nhon–Chi Thanh, Chi Thanh–Van Phong, Can Tho–Hau Giang, and Hau Giang–Ca Mau.
Other key infrastructure projects include the Bien Hoa–Vung Tau Expressway (Phase 2), Cao Lanh–Lo Te, Lo Te–Rach Soi expressways, expansion of select bridges and tunnels along National Route 1, dredging of Quy Nhon harbor for 50,000 DWT ships, and upgrades to the Cai Mep–Thi Vai channel.
Following the Prime Minister’s directive, the ministry has also asked other ministries, agencies, and localities to review and register projects for groundbreaking or inauguration on the same date.
To date, the ministry’s Department of Economic and Construction Investment Management has received registrations from 30 entities—including six ministries, 13 localities, and 11 corporations—covering 60 projects. Of these, 36 are set to commence construction and 24 are scheduled for inauguration.
