HCMC – Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Ngoc Thien signed a decision recognizing Mui Ne, a well-known beach area in the south central province of Binh Thuan, as a national tourist site today, August 24.

The new national tourist site encompasses Tuy Phong District’s Hoa Phu Commune and Phu Hai Ward of Phan Thiet City in Binh Thuan Province, covering an area of 14,760 hectares. Some 1,000 hectares of the total area will be used for tourism facilities.

The Mui Ne National Tourist Site will follow the green growth model to protect the environment, with its typical landscapes being Bau Trang, Bau Sen and sand dunes.

The national tourist site will also focus on diversifying tourism products and high-quality services by taking advantage of its sea resources, sand dunes and Cham cultural centers.

The Mui Ne national tourist site is expected to become one of the most popular destinations in the Asia-Pacific region by 2030, Phap Luat Online reported.

The new national tourist site is targeted to generate a revenue of VND24 trillion from tourism services by 2025 and VND50 trillion by 2030. Some 45,000 jobs will also be created for local residents by 2030.

On December 18, 2018, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam, on behalf of the prime minister, signed a decision approving a plan to develop Mui Ne into a national tourist site by 2025 with a vision toward 2030.

The prime minister asked the local authorities to develop the tourism area’s catering and trading services and focus on developing the Hon Rom Park and amusement centers at beaches as well as the sand dunes.

Aside from cooperating with air carriers to launch routes to Mui Ne, the authorities should upgrade the Phan Thiet Port to welcome international tourists and build more roads leading to beaches.
