HCMC – The Ministry of Transport has approved the first phase of the VND6.1-trillion My An-Cao Lanh expressway, a component of the western North-South expressway project (CT.02).
The 27km expressway, which is slated for completion in five years and funded by South Korea’s official development assistance (ODA) loan, is a major infrastructure development project in the Mekong Delta.
The first phase of the project will traverse Dong Thap Province, commencing at the intersection with National Highway N2 in My An Town, Thap Muoi District, and ending at the Cao Lanh Bridge.
The expressway will initially have four lanes and in the future it will be widened to six lanes.
The South Korean government’s ODA will amount to VND4,462 billion equivalent (over US$188 million), while reciprocal capital from the Vietnamese Government will be VND1,665 billion.
The construction of the My An-Cao Lanh expressway will make the western North-South Expressway complete, said the Ministry of Transport.
