Myanmarese sailor confirmed as fresh Covid-19 case

HCMC – Vietnam has reported one new Covid-19 patient who is a Myanmarese sailor of the IPANEMA ship and was quarantined upon arrival, raising its total infections to 383 as of Sunday evening.

The 40-year-old patient departed from Japan on June 16 and entered Vietnam through the Hon Gai Port on June 23. He was quarantined on the ship on his arrival. On July 6, the Burmese citizen continued to stay in quarantine at the Van Long Hotel in the northern province of Quang Ninh.

Following his test result coming out as positive on July 17, the sailor was sent to the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Hanoi for medical treatment and isolation.

Among the nation’s tally of 383 cases, 357 have made recovery while the rest are being treated at local health centers with stable health condition.

Further, nearly 13,000 cases having close contact with Covid-19 patients or returning to Vietnam from affected areas have been quarantined.
