HCMC – National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and a high-ranking delegation of the Vietnamese legislature arrived in Tashkent on April 5, beginning their attendance at the 150th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU-150) and official visit to Uzbekistan.
The participation of NA Chairman Man as head of the high-level Vietnamese delegation at the 150th IPU assembly reaffirms Vietnam’s role as an active, responsible, and proactive member of the IPU as well as other multilateral forums.
It contributes to reinforcing multilateralism, international cooperation, and solidarity; enhances Vietnam’s role and standing in regional and global parliamentary cooperation mechanisms; and helps sustain and advance ties with IPU member states and their parliaments.
At the 150th IPU, Vietnam’s top legislator is scheduled to deliver a keynote address during the general debate on “Parliamentary Action for Social Development and Justice.”
He will also hold bilateral meetings with representatives of the IPU Secretariat, parliamentary leaders from other countries, and international organizations to explore ways to strengthen cooperation with the IPU, deepen partnerships, and enhance Vietnam’s participation in the IPU and other multilateral forums.
Vietnam and Uzbekistan established diplomatic relations in 1992, and the traditional friendship between the two countries has been well maintained and developed in recent years.
In terms of politics and diplomacy, both sides have actively resumed delegation exchanges and bilateral engagements after a period of disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The official visit to Uzbekistan by NA Chairman Man is of political significance, reflecting Vietnam’s appreciation of its traditional friendship with Uzbekistan and its desire to strengthen political trust and lay the groundwork for expanding cooperation across various fields.
