HCMC – Party General Secretary and State President To Lam, his spouse and a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation will pay an official visit to Thailand from May 27-29.
The visit is made at the invitation of Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul and his spouse, according to the announcement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Vietnam and Thailand established diplomatic relations in August 1976 and upgraded their ties to a comprehensive strategic partnership in May 2025. This year marks the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
Thailand is currently Vietnam’s largest trading partner within ASEAN. Bilateral trade reached US$22.1 billion in 2025, up 9% from 2024. In the first four months of 2026, two-way trade totaled nearly US$8.6 billion, an increase of 24% from the same period in 2025.
