HCMC – The Ministry of Health this evening, April 6, reported 49,124 fresh Covid cases in 61 cities and provinces, down 5,871 against yesterday.
Hanoi City recorded the most infections, at 4,037, followed by Nghe An with 2,302 while Phu Tho, Yen Bai, Bac Giang and Daklak detected around 2,000 to 2,257 infections each.
In the day, the health authority of Quang Ninh registered to add 9,300 cases detected earlier to the national Covid monitoring system.
The country’s Covid caseload has neared 10 million, with over 8.2 million of them having recovered.
The ministry also reported 31 new Covid deaths, taking the country’s coronavirus death toll to 42,712.
In related news, Mong Cai City in the northern province of Quang Ninh has required all people who enter or exit the city through the Mong Cai border gate to undergo a paid rapid Covid antigen test to build a safe area for export and import activities.
The city is strictly following regulations on the Covid testing using the RT-PCR method for the drivers of vehicles carrying goods, employees and staffers at the border gate.
In another development, the Binh Phuoc Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has issued an announcement on tourism reopening in the new normal, the local media reported.
Accordingly, the provincial department asks international tourists to show a negative Covid test result and have a minimum of US$10,000 Covid-19 travel insurance coverage before their arrival.
Tourist sites in areas at low or moderate risk of Covid spread are allowed to operate at full capacity, while those in high-risk areas are required to limit the number of guests and lodging facilities there must not operate above 70% of capacity.
