HCMC – The downtrend in Covid infections continues as the country saw the case count decline by 196 to 685 cases today, June 5, according to the Ministry of Health.
Hanoi took the lead by case number with 207, followed by Yen Bai with 79 cases. Other provinces had fewer than 50 cases each.
Vietnam has had more than 10.7 million Covid cases, with over 9.5 million of them having recovered and over 43,000 others dead.
Today alone, some 8,500 patients were announced to have recovered from the disease. The country today reported no new Covid deaths.
Deputy Minister of Health Nguyen Thi Lien Huong said the ministry was consulting with members of the national anti-Covid steering committee over a proposal to change the stringent 5K anti-pandemic measures to V2K, the latter requiring vaccination, masking and hand washing only.
According to the Ministry of Health, the pandemic has been put under control nationwide. However, Covid is still on the list of Group A infectious diseases, which are extremely dangerous, so measures such as wearing masks and vaccination should not be removed.
