HCMC – Landslides triggered by heavy rains have disrupted a North-South Railway section that passes through the north-central province of Ha Tinh. This disruption has caused trains from both directions to come to a standstill.

According to Duc Lien Commune, the area where the railway section is affected by landslides, the incident occurred at 1:00 am this morning. The heavy rain caused the embankment of the section to be washed away. Rocks and trees from the mountains also tumbled down, blocking this section.

As a result, the section has been closed to allow local authorities to address the situation. Passengers on the trains unable to pass through the affected area will be disembarked at nearby railway stations and transported by cars to continue their journey on the other side.

Authorities are working diligently to promptly restore railway transportation.

According to Vietnam’s National Center for Hydrometeorological Forecasting, heavy rain is expected to continue until November 2 in central Vietnam, increasing the risk of flash floods, landslides, and flooding in many areas of the region.
