HCMC – Party General Secretary To Lam, accompanied by his spouse and a high-ranking delegation of Vietnam, will pay a state visit to South Korea from August 10 to 13, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
His visit to South Korea is made at the invitation of President of South Korea Lee Jae Myung and his spouse.
Vietnam and South Korea established diplomatic relations on December 22, 1992, and elevated their ties to a comprehensive strategic partnership in December 2022.
As of May 2025, South Korea was Vietnam’s largest investor, with total registered capital reaching US$94 billion across 10,203 projects, accounting for 23.5% of all projects and 18.1% of total registered foreign investment in Vietnam.
South Korea also ranks second in development cooperation, pledging US$4 billion in support through 2030. Bilateral trade reached US$81.5 billion in 2024, up 7.3% from 2023. Vietnamese investment in South Korea consists of 112 projects with total capital of US$37.4 million.
