HCMC – The HCMC Department of Health has proposed issuing the green pass for all residents who were partially or fully vaccinated against Covid-19 at least two weeks ago.

According to the proposal sent to the municipal steering committee for Covid-19 infection prevention and control, those who recovered from the disease and completed their mandatory quarantine should be also entitled to the green health pass.

All green pass holders would continue to be required to follow the anti-coronavirus protocols and take regular Covid tests.

On September 18, the Department of Health worked with the Departments of Information-Communications and Planning-Investment on the pilot implementation of the green pass policy in the city.

According to the Department of Health, the green pass plan will encourage residents to get vaccinated.

Since they were immunized against the coronavirus, Covid green pass holders have a low risk of infection, or severe illness and death if infected. The green pass does not guarantee that the holders will not transmit the coronavirus to others.

In a previous draft plan prepared by the Department of Health, the green pass would be granted to those who received two shots of the Covid vaccine and spent enough time building protection against the virus, for example two weeks after the second dose of Pfizer, Moderna or AstraZeneca. People who have been infected with Covid-19 and have recovered over the past six months would be eligible for the green pass as well.
