HCMC – The Ministry of Transport has announced a plan to upgrade Phu Cat Airport to boost its capacity at an estimated cost of VND3 trillion.
The ministry’s proposal, submitted to the prime minister, supports the early research and development of a second runway, along with connecting taxiways and technical infrastructure within the flight area.
The ministry has suggested that the Binh Dinh People’s Committee take responsibility for overseeing the investment and construction of the second runway.
Phu Cat Airport is one of the three busiest airports in the south-central coast region, following Danang International Airport and Cam Ranh International Airport. Despite handling over one million passengers annually, the airport currently operates with only one runway.
