Quang Ninh closes beaches, suspends public activities amid Covid concern

HCMC – As the number of Covid-19 cases is rising nationwide, Quang Ninh Province has decided to suspend a host of public activities starting 12 p.m. today, August 4, to make the province safe from Covid, even though it has not reported any new domestic infections for nearly 40 days.

Public beaches, cultural and sports services, entertainment locations and tourist sites are subject to the suspension. Religious facilities were required to conduct internal religious rites and stop receiving visitors.

Street food stalls and coffee shops are allowed to offer take-away services only. Meanwhile, restaurants and in-house eateries can maintain operations but have to install plastic transparent barriers between tables to prevent droplet infection and arrange seats in line with social distancing rules and are also encouraged to offer take-away services.

The provincial government ordered intensifying the management of wholesale markets and wet markets in the province. It also banned large gatherings of over five people in the same area at the same time at flower gardens, parks, squares, streets, beaches and outside offices, business facilities, schools, medical centers and other public places.

People returning to Quang Ninh from other localities have to show a negative Covid-19 RT-PCR test certificate conducted 72 hours before their arrival in the province. They also have to undergo a paid 14-day quarantine period at centralized quarantine centers and then continue to self-quarantine at home for seven days.

The local competent forces have to create favorable conditions for vehicles transporting workers to work, trucks carrying goods, manufacturing materials and necessities. Besides this, they have to check the cabins, containers and cargo holds of all vehicles at Covid-19 checkpoints and along the street to promptly detect people hiding in vehicles to enter the province.
