Quang Ninh looks to become auto manufacturing hub

HCMC – The northern province of Quang Ninh looks to become a destination for local and foreign car manufacturers, according to local officials.

Cao Tuong Huy, acting chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, emphasized the significance of investments in automobile production and supporting industries in Quang Ninh’s sustainable development strategy.

The provincial administration has formulated a plan to transform Quang Ninh into a leading automotive industry hub in the region. Efforts have been focused on improving the infrastructure for manufacturing, transportation and industrial construction, as well as enhancing the quality of local human resources.

In recent times, Quang Ninh officials have engaged in meetings with delegations from domestic and international automakers, exploring opportunities for business expansion. In particular, discussions have taken place with representatives from Japanese Mitsubishi Corporation.

Between January and May, fresh foreign direct investment approvals for the economic and industrial zones in Quang Ninh, excluding the Van Don economic zone, amounted to US$500 million. Of this total, pledges for auto industry supporting industries accounted for US$384.3 million, or 76%.
