HCMC – South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol arrived in Hanoi this morning, June 22, starting a three-day state visit to Vietnam at the invitation of President Vo Van Thuong.
It is Yoon’s first trip to Vietnam in his capacity as President of South Korea. Yoon is set to attend the official welcome ceremony and hold talks with President Vo Van Thuong tomorrow, June 23.
He will have separate meetings with Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue.
The trip is expected to emphasize the importance of the cooperation between the two countries, further bolstering the partnership in a range of aspects such as finance, media, high technology, infrastructure and energy.
The visit took place after the two countries upgraded bilateral relations to a comprehensive strategic partnership last December. The elevation marked the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between Vietnam and South Korea in 1992.
