HCMC – The Saigon Times Group, through its Saigon Times – Great Circle program, has presented 100 cash gifts worth VND1 million each to underprivileged residents in Di An City of the southeastern province of Binh Duong just ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday.
In collaboration with the HCMC Journalists Association and the Di An City People’s Committee, the Saigon Times Group held a ceremony on January 17 to award the 100 cash gifts to orphans, people with disabilities, impoverished patients, and needy individuals.
The Vietnam Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Agribank), through its representative office in southern Vietnam, gave VND100 million to the Saigon Times Group to present the 100 gifts.
The presentation of the gifts was part of the Saigon Times-Great Circle program to support people with difficult backgrounds to have a warm, fulfilling and joyful Tet holiday.
Pham Huu Chuong, deputy editor-in-chief of the Saigon Times Group, said, “We hope that these small yet meaningful gifts will provide much-needed assistance to needy families, helping them overcome financial difficulties and find joy during the Tet holiday.”
Senior officials of Di An City extended their heartfelt appreciation to the program for actively aiding people facing hardships in the local community.
The event was also attended by Duong Vu Thong, permanent vice chairman of the HCMC Journalists Association; Pham Nguyen Truong Loc, vice chairman of the Di An Ward People’s Committee; Vuong My Nhung, deputy director of Agribank’s Song Than Industrial Park branch; and representatives from accompanying organizations.
