HCMC — Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has told ministries and local authorities to prepare 80 simultaneous groundbreaking and inauguration ceremonies for major infrastructure projects across Vietnam to celebrate the nation’s 80th anniversary of National Day (September 2).

According to Official Telegram No. 129, a nationwide live telecast will link 80 locations across the country on August 19, with the main location at the National Exhibition and Convention Center in Hanoi City. The ceremonies will be conducted both in-person and online.

The initiative builds on the success of similar events held earlier this year to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the south and the reunification of the nation (April 30, 1975 – April 30, 2025).

Around 230 projects nationwide are currently reviewed by the Ministry of Construction to ensure readiness for either groundbreaking or completion ceremonies.

The Ministry of Construction has been tasked with finalizing the list of eligible projects, focusing on large-scale and high-impact developments. These projects will also be integrated with others within ministries, agencies, and provinces to strengthen regional connectivity.

Vietnam Television, in coordination with Voice of Vietnam and the Vietnam News Agency, will develop and direct the live telecast of the ceremonies.

Media outlets are expected to promote the events through coverage and features. Telecommunications providers, including VNPT, Viettel, and FPT, are working to ensure the technical infrastructure for seamless online connectivity.

The Ministry of Home Affairs will organize a program for honoring individuals and organizations with outstanding achievements in the nationwide  “500 Days and Nights” emulation campaign to have 3,000 kilometers of expressway in service. The Ministry of Finance will evaluate eligibility for state-funded rewards.
