SpaceX wants to provide Starlink satellite Internet services in Vietnam

HCMC – SpaceX is willing to invest and offer its Starlink satellite Internet services in Vietnam, with potential benefits for sectors such as education, training and disaster prevention, according to the Baochinhphu news site.

Tim Hughes, senior vice president for Global Business and Government Affairs of SpaceX, said his firm was interested in investment in Vietnam at a meeting in Hanoi yesterday, September 6, with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.

He highly appreciated Vietnam’s investment environment and its program to provide Internet services for the entire population. He proposed that Vietnam prepare necessary infrastructure and conditions to maximize the effectiveness of Startlink services.

In response, PM Chinh said that Vietnam considers the U.S. a key partner and wants to promote and deepen its relations with the U.S.

Cooperation in science and technology, innovation, high-tech industries, and semiconductors is a critical pillar in the relationship between the two countries, Chinh noted.

He said Vietnam is willing to provide infrastructure and policies needed for businesses, including SpaceX, to invest and operate successfully.

The PM also called on SpaceX to assist Vietnam in technology transfer, human resource development, and management expertise, as well as to enhance collaboration with Vietnamese partners, particularly focusing on increasing the content of high, digital, and green technologies, developing supporting industries, among others.
