HCMC – Vietnam’s state budget revenue was put at an estimated VND721.3 trillion in the first quarter of this year, equivalent to 36.7% of the year’s estimate and up 29.3% versus the year-ago period, according to the Ministry of Finance.

Domestic revenue totaled VND646.3 trillion, making up 38.7% of the plan, and increasing by 34.5% against the same period last year.

The sharp rise in domestic revenue was attributed to strong economic growth from late 2024 into early 2025 and effective tax administration measures, said the Ministry of Finance.

During the period, tax authorities advanced digital transformation by moving tax management online, expanding e-invoice use, and streamlining services through the e-portal for individual business households.

The tax sector has strengthened tax management, particularly in key sectors and areas such as finance, banking, real estate, e-commerce, digital platform businesses, restaurants, hotels, and individual and household businesses.

It conducted nearly 10,000 inspections and audits, recommending financial settlements totaling VND16.5 trillion. Tax debt recovery and settlement were estimated at around VND22.4 trillion as of the end of March.

In addition, revenue from import-export activities totaled around VND61.6 trillion, equivalent to 26.2% of the plan and nearly the same as the same period in 2024.

Customs authorities have strengthened revenue management, implemented measures to facilitate customs clearance for businesses, and promoted import-export activities.

As of March 15, the customs sector had conducted 108 post-clearance audits, specialized inspections, and internal checks, collecting about VND176.8 billion for the state budget.
