HCMC – India and Vietnam can build more resilient, efficient, and sustainable regional supply chains by expanding cooperation in agriculture, logistics and food processing, India’s Consul General in HCMC Vipra Pandey said at an agri-food forum in HCMC today, May 19.

Speaking at the 2nd Asia Agri Food International 2026 conference, Pandey described agriculture and agri-commodities as “an important pillar of our bilateral trade relationship.”

“By combining India’s production capacity and technological capabilities with Vietnam’s dynamic processing and export ecosystem, we can build more resilient, efficient, and sustainable regional supply chains,” Pandey stressed.

The diplomat highlighted cooperation opportunities in rice, spices, cashew nuts, feed ingredients, warehousing, logistics and agri-technology. He also pointed to broader areas for collaboration, including food security, sustainability, digitalization and smart warehousing.

Pandey said the recent elevation of bilateral relations between the two nations to an Enhanced Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in 2026 marked “the beginning of a new golden era” in India-Vietnam ties. Both countries are targeting bilateral trade of US$25 billion by 2030.

The two-day conference, organized by the Indian Business Chamber in Vietnam (INCHAM), brought together traders, exporters, logistics firms, technology providers and industry representatives from across Asia.

In opening remarks, Jayprakash Shriram Mishra, chairman of INCHAM, said food security, sustainable supply chains and agricultural cooperation have become strategic priorities amid global economic challenges.

“We believe that today’s conference will further promote business connectivity, expand investment cooperation, and contribute to strengthening the agri-food value chain across the region,” Mishra said.
