HCMC — Sun Group, one of Vietnam’s leading real estate developers, plans to launch a new urban development project worth over VND13.5 trillion early next year, with completion scheduled for July 2028.
According to its environmental impact assessment report, the Dong An Tay urban area, covering around 288 hectares, will span Tay Nam and Phu An wards in HCMC. These wards were formerly part of Ben Cat City in the former province of Binh Duong. The project is invested by Dong An Tay Investment and Development Company, a subsidiary of Sun Group.
Once completed, the township is expected to house around 14,300 residents in 7,100 units. The plan includes 1,757 terraced houses, 1,640 villas, 680 resettlement units, and social housing.
Preparatory work, including detailed planning, investment approvals, and land clearance, is expected to finish by December this year. Construction will then take place over 24 months, starting in January 2026.
Founded in 2007, Sun Group is one of Vietnam’s largest private developers with projects spanning real estate, tourism, and entertainment. Its portfolio includes Sun World theme parks and luxury resorts such as InterContinental Danang and JW Marriott Phu Quoc.
The group has been expanding rapidly in southern Vietnam, particularly in areas newly merged into HCMC. In former Binh Duong Province, Sun Group is also behind two other large-scale projects: the 70-hectare Bac An Tay, with an investment of more than VND11.1 trillion and capacity for 3,090 housing units, and the 268-hectare Tay An Tay, valued at nearly VND21 trillion and designed for 20,400 dwellers.
In May, Sun Group broke ground on the VND37 trillion 3/2 Street Urban Area project, a 96-hectare development in HCMC’s Rach Dua Ward, which was formerly Ward 10 in Vung Tau City. The company has also proposed several major projects in the city core, including the 187-hectare Rach Chiec sports complex, the 395-hectare Historical and Cultural Park, and infrastructure projects such as a riverside road and a 40-kilometer metro line in former Cu Chi District.
