HCMC – Switzerland is aiming to strengthen economic cooperation with HCMC in the coming time, heard a meeting between Secretary of the HCMC Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen and the consul general of Switzerland in HCMC on October 25.
Speaking at the meeting, Consul General of Switzerland in HCMC Werner Bardill said that during his two-year tenure, he would promote economic, commercial and cultural partnerships and consular activities with HCMC.
In the first half of the year, bilateral cooperation produced positive results, the Party secretary of the city said, expecting HCMC and Switzerland to continue to enhance their partnership in the financial, banking, traffic infrastructure and urban planning fields.
Secretary of the HCMC Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen also had a separate meeting with Consul General of Belarus in HCMC Ruslan Varankou.
Nen lauded Belarus for opening its consulate general in the city.
Varankou said the prime minister of Belarus would visit Vietnam in late 2022 to attend the inauguration ceremony of the Consulate General. Belarus is planning many important cooperation programs with Vietnam, moving toward boosting the bilateral strategic partnership.
Two-way trade between Vietnam and Belarus reached US$200 million last year, Varankou said, adding that Belarus has much potential and is willing to invest in infrastructure and machinery manufacturing projects in HCMC and Vietnam as a whole.
The Belarusian Consul General in Vietnam also expected to open a direct air route between the two countries.
