HCMC – The Ministry of Industry and Trade has decided to allocate tariff quotas for 113,000 tons of imported sugar via auction.
Tariff quotas for raw sugar imports stood at 79,000 tons and refined sugar at 34,000 tons.
The council for the allocation of sugar import tariff quotas will hold auctions in September, the ministry said.
Once the auctions are completed, the council will report the results to the ministry, which will then announce winners as prescribed by Circular 11/2022/TT-BCT issued on June 27 by the minister of industry and trade.
Auction participants are requested to comply with Circular 11, which regulates the allocation of sugar import tariff quotas via auction.
The tariff quotas for imported sugar last year were 108,000 tons, including 76,000 tons of raw sugar and 32,000 tons of refined sugar.
