HCMC – The Ministry of Transport has added 10 wharves belonging to the country’s seaports to the national wharf system, raising the total number to 296.
They are Nosco at the Quang Ninh seaport, Long Son at the Nghi Son seaport, Hai Ha in Quang Tri Province, VIMC Dinh Vu and FGG in Haiphong, Cai Mep Gemadept – Terminal Link and Cai Mep Complex in Vung Tau Province, Pacific Petro in Tien Giang, Giao Long Newport in Ben Tre and Duyen Hai 2 Thermal Power in Tra Vinh.
The Vietnam Maritime Administration has been tasked with managing and operating the wharves at seaports in line with the prevailing regulations and annually proposing the ministry publicize the list of wharves.
Haiphong City reports the largest number of wharves at 52, followed by Vung Tau with 48 and HCMC with 43.
The national wharf system has been working well, playing a key role in export and import activities while the country is on the way toward global integration, according to the administration.
Statistics from the administration indicated that between January and March, the throughput of Vietnam’s seaports amounted to some 180 million tons, up 4% year-on-year.
