HCMC – HCMC plans to auction three land plots in the Thu Thiem New Urban Area in the second quarter of this year, with a starting price of over VND5 trillion.
Nguyen Toan Thang, director of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment, said the city would auction plots 1-2, 1-3, and 3-5, and that all procedural requirements would be completed within the second quarter.
Between now and 2026, HCMC plans to auction an additional eight plots. In Zone 1, four plots—1-5, 1-6, 1-9, and 1-10—have been designated for mixed-use residential and commercial development.
In Zone 3, three plots—3-8, 3-9, and 3-10—ranging from 5,000 to 10,000 square meters, are planned for residential and service-oriented commercial spaces. In Zone 7, a single plot, 7-1, covers nearly 74,400 square meters and is designated for an international-standard hotel and resort complex.
The upcoming auction follows a failed land sale in 2021, when four plots in Zone 3 were sold for VND37 trillion but later defaulted by the winning bidders, prompting the city to cancel the deals.
Authorities have refined the auction process to ensure compliance with legal frameworks. The first three plots will serve as a trial before larger-scale auctions proceed.
