Thunderstorms leave 17 injured, destroy nearly 300 houses in Dong Thap

HCMC – A thunderstorm swept through the Mekong Delta province of Dong Thap on July 22, damaging 286 houses and injuring 17 people, the provincial Department of Agriculture and Environment said.

Starting from 4 p.m. on July 22, heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds hit the communes of Thanh My, Doc Binh Kieu, Tan Phu, Ba Sao, and Thap Muoi, and My Ngai Ward.

Seventeen people were injured, including eight in Ba Sao Commune and nine in My Ngai Ward.

A total of 44 houses collapsed, including 30 in Ba Sao Commune, one in Thap Muoi Commune, and 13 in My Ngai Ward.

Another 243 houses had their roofs blown off, with damage reported in Thanh My, Doc Binh Kieu, Tan Phu, Ba Sao, Thap Muoi communes, and My Ngai Ward.

Local authorities and emergency teams have been deployed to support affected residents.
