HCMC – On the morning of May 6 (local time), a grand official welcome ceremony was held at the Presidential Palace in New Delhi, India for Party General Secretary and State President To Lam and a high-level Vietnamese delegation, following the highest protocol reserved for a head of state.
Indian President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi co-hosted the ceremony in a solemn and warm atmosphere.
The welcome featured ceremonial cavalry escorting the Vietnamese leader’s motorcade into the Presidential Palace to a 21-gun salute.

The state visit to India from May 5 to 7, made at the invitation of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, carries significant strategic importance. It reflects Vietnam’s foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralization, diversification, and proactive, responsible international integration, as outlined in the 14th National Party Congress.
In recent years, the Vietnam–India Comprehensive Strategic Partnership has advanced in both scope and depth, with bilateral trade reaching around US$15–16 billion annually. India is currently among Vietnam’s top 10 trading partners. The two countries are also expanding cooperation into high-tech sectors such as digital transformation, artificial intelligence (AI), clean energy, and satellite data. The visit is expected to create new breakthroughs, further deepening and enhancing bilateral ties across all areas.
