Turkey to donate 200,000 Covid vaccine doses to Vietnam

HCMC – Turkey will give Vietnam 200,000 doses of the Covid vaccine, oxygen concentrators and other medical supplies, Turkish Vice President Fuat Oktay announced during an online dialogue with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on October 12.

The donation is aimed at helping the country bring the pandemic under control as it is seeking to contain the spread of the coronavirus.

The Turkish side also affirmed that Turkey is ready to share its achievement in the development of the home-grown Turkovac vaccine, which has entered the third phase of clinical trials, and provide reciprocal recognition of the Covid vaccine passports.

The prime minister thanked the Government of Turkey for its donation, hoping that the two countries would exchange experiences and closely coordinate in the fight against Covid with each other to win over the pandemic to reopen the economy and boost bilateral trade.

During the online talk, the two leaders pledged to attach importance to enhancing the Vietnam-Turkey friendship, and agreed to strengthen the multi-faceted collaboration, the local media reported.

Vietnam and Turkey need to continue consultations and close coordination at international forums and organizations, especially the United Nations, the two leaders decided.

As for the East Sea issue, they emphasized the significance of ensuring the safety and freedom of navigation, aviation, security and peace in the region, and the peaceful settlement of disputes in line with international law, especially the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea.
