HCMC – Two foreigners have been fined and expelled from Vietnam after they were caught red-handed vandalizing a roller door of a residential house in HCMC.

On July 27, police imposed an administrative fine on Tardieu Kerrigan Marcus Tr., 24, a New Zealand national, and Extrammiana P., 26, a French national, as they were found engaging in activities prohibited for foreigners.

Police also ordered them to rectify the consequences by removing all graffiti on roller doors and walls and applied a supplementary penalty against Tr. and P. by expelling them from the territory of Vietnam.

The two foreign individuals were caught by police in District 1 while spraying to vandalize a residential roller door on Pho Duc Chinh Street in Nguyen Thai Binh Ward at 11 p.m. on July 22.

These two foreigners rented hotels on Nguyen Thai Binh and Suong Nguyet Anh streets. They told the police that they knew each other through social media and arranged to bring spray paints to vandalize doors of residential houses in the city.

Police said that Tr. has been vandalizing roller doors of residential houses, fences, and roofs in vacant land lots in HCMC since 2023 until he was apprehended by authorities.
