Two more Covid-19 deaths reported this morning

HCMC – The Ministry of Health has confirmed two more deaths from Covid-19 who were the 426th and 496th patients suffering from end-stage kidney disease for a long time, raising the country’s total number of Covid-19-related fatalities to eight as of this morning, August 4.

The seventh death, a 62-year-old female resident of Danang City, had been facing chronic kidney failure for 10 years, according to Deputy Minister of Health Nguyen Truong Son.

She was receiving treatment at the Renal Endocrinology Department of Danang Hospital between July 18 and 27. She was then transferred to Hue Central Hospital in neighboring Thua Thien-hue Province on July 30, VietnamPlus news site reported.

On July 31, the woman got critically ill and had shortness of breath, so she was put on a ventilator a day later.

She was receiving the continuous dialysis treatment on August 2, and at 8.00 a.m. on August 3, she fell into a deep coma.

She was pronounced dead at 2.30 a.m. this morning due to the end-stage kidney disease, septic shock and Covid-19.

The 496th patient, a 65-year-old man, who lived in Hoa Vang District, Danang City, died from end-stage kidney disease, heart failure and Covid-19 at 8.30 a.m. this morning.

The man tested positive for the virus on July 28 and was admitted to the Tropical Medicine Department of Danang Hospital on the same day.

From July 29 to August 1, he was on a ventilator and receiving the continuous blood purification treatment. He slipped into a coma at 7.45 a.m. on August 4.

Son said that some elderly Covid-19 patients are expected to succumb to Covid-19 due to serious underlying heath conditions.
