Two more detained in Phuc Son case

HCMC – The police have detained Pham Hoang Anh, deputy secretary of the Vinh Phuc Provincial Party Committee, and Le Viet Chu, former secretary of the Quang Ngai Provincial Party Committee, on alleged charges of taking bribes in the Phuc Son Group JSC case.

With approval from the Supreme People’s Procuracy, the police searched the residences and workplaces of the two people yesterday, March 27, Lieutenant General To An Xo, spokesperson of the Ministry of Public Security (MPS), announced today, March 28.

The two were charged with accepting bribes from Nguyen Van Hau, board chairman of Phuc Son Group JSC, to favor Phuc Son’s projects in their respective provinces.

Anh, 49, allegedly helped Hau secure a deal to develop the Vinh Tuong wholesale market project in Vinh Phuc Province.

Chu, 61, is accused of giving Phuc Son Group an unfair advantage in winning the construction tender for the Tra Khuc River southern bank road project in Quang Ngai Province.

The arrests are part of a broader investigation into accounting irregularities causing serious consequences by Phuc Son Group. Following a month-long probe, authorities have now detained nearly 20 individuals.

Those arrested include four current and former leaders from Vinh Phuc anh Quang Ngai provinces, namely Hoang Thi Thuy Lan, secretary of the Party Committee of Vinh Phuc Province and Le Duy Thanh, chairman of the Vinh Phuc Provincial People’s Committee.

Also involved in this case are Dang Van Minh, chairman of the Quang Ngai Provincial People’s Committee and former director of the Department of Transport of Quang Ngai Province, and Cao Khoa, former chairman of the province.

All four people face bribery charges.
