U.S. tech giant Qualcomm launches AI R&D center in Vietnam

HCMC – The U.S. tech giant Qualcomm inaugurated an artificial intelligence research and development center in Vietnam on June 10, reported the local media.

The launch of Qualcomm’s new AI R&D Center in Vietnam is expected to help establish the country as a key hub for AI research and innovation in the region and elsewhere in the world.

The center will be part of the company’s global AI research network, focusing on the development of generative AI and agent-based AI across various sectors, including smartphones, PCs, XR, automotive, and IoT.

It will advance fundamental research, build core platforms, develop local talent, and foster academic partnerships, supporting Qualcomm’s product roadmap and promoting the growth of Vietnam’s AI sector.

At the inauguration ceremony, Deputy Minister of Finance Le Tan Can called on Qualcomm to continue driving breakthrough AI research, expand its applications across various sectors, and strengthen long-term cooperation with Vietnam.

He also urged closer collaboration with the National Innovation Center, the adoption of cutting-edge technologies, and broader partnerships with leading Vietnamese universities to support the development of the country’s AI talent pool.
